Expanded polystyrene (EPS) geofoams multi-functionality replaces the need for many other types of geosynthetic materials to be used in below grade applications. EPS geofoam is produced in blocks that can be cut into various shapes and sizes. The versatility makes it suitable for any project. Because it is an engineered product, it can be produced to obtain the required compressive resistance.

Tried and tested.

EPS geofoam has been used as a geotechnical material since the 1960s. As a lightweight fill (approximately 1% the weight of soil and less than 10% the weight of other lightweight fill alternatives), EPS geofoam reduces the loads imposed on adjacent and underlying soils and structures. It can improve stability against bearing and slope failures and reduce settlements. This is intended to solve engineering challenges.

Geofoam keeps project costs down.

Geofoam is a benefit for construction schedules and lowers the overall cost of construction. It is lightweight and easy to handle during construction with the ability to be cut and shaped right on site. Weather is not a deterrent for the use of EPS geofoam. It will retain its physical properties under engineered conditions of use. The density is controlled in the manufacturing process making it a superior product that significantly reduces stress on underlying subgrades.
